Monitoring Your Sparrow's Condition

The E-Meter on the dashboard is your battery monitor, and one of the most important gauges in your Sparrow. Batteries can be damaged by excessive discharge, by under-charging, and the battery pack may not be storing the amount of energy you think it is. The E-Meter shows you all the information you need about using and charging your battery including:

  • Battery state of charge
  • System voltage
  • System current
  • Amp hours that are put into or removed from your battery
  • Operating time left until recharging is required

Battery State-of-Charge
Just above the digital display are four LEDs that tell you the battery's state-of-charge. Four green LEDs mean that the battery is full. One flashing red light means that it is nearly discharged.
Get into the habit of frequently and routinely checking the E-Meter. It should become an integral part of driving your Sparrow, just as checking the rearview mirrors is. Your E-Meter settings are established at the factory and should need no adjustment. If you suspect erroneous readings or malfunctioning, contact your authorized Sparrow dealer.
E-Meter Readings
This is the SELECT button.

Press the SEL button to toggle through each of the displays. From left to right, toggle to Volts, Amps, Amp-hours, and Time.

Volts is the electrical potential. This display is useful to assess the approximate battery state-of-charge and as a check for proper charging

Amps is the flow of current in or out of your battery at the present time. Discharge is displayed as a negative number and charge is displayed as a positive number

Amp-hours consumed is the amount of energy removed from the battery

Time is the estimated operating time you have left in your battery before you need to recharge
